i've always admired artist friends who sit on trains and in coffeeshops drawing the people around them. i've done it many times as well but honestly i'm too self conscious and i keep trying to hide what i'm working on so usually i don't do too well. i figured maybe i should try this online instead? i'm doing a new comic book and practice with faces and people is what i need right now.
if you don't already, then follow this blog*, post me a photo of you in reply to this entry (or a link to a photo) and i'll draw you in my sketchbook! along with the picture, if you want, post a fact or two about yourself, your likes, your fav pet, fav color, something? portraits will be simple but it could still be fun to do more than just a face. also, i don't guarantee perfect likeness ;)
i'll try to do as many as possible over the next couple of months and post at least one but hopefully a couple every week. first, above, is my self portrait. if you've got a blog or website i'll link that from the portrait of course, as thanks for letting me draw you. if you want to post it on your blog (with a linkback/credit to yours truly) you're free to do so but it's absolutely not a requirement. if i can muster the courage i might ask permission to draw people with looks i find interesting, too... we'll see.

here is a picture of me, and a fact off the top of my head... I have a pet lovebird! Flfuffy wakes me up bright and early every morning, no need for an alarm clock anymore :P

For me, I think it helps that I only have pen and paper, so it's very mobile. When I draw, usually I just shut everyone out and try not to be conscious of it as possible. Most of the time people ignore me (occasionally I get a 'nice drawing!' and I just smile and go back to my drawing). I totally agree with it being hard to draw people around you, though! It's kind of like "oh no, they'll see me staring at them and wonder why I'm drawing them -_-". It's much easier to pretend you're drawing someone's dog. I'm also trying to start using my sketchbook because I realise that I have no practice drawing actual things, haha.

I am kinda random. I like insects/books/axolotls.deep sea monsters/ and just about everything else, I'm an atheist and a semipagan coexisting pretty happily in the same body, I've just quit my second job to have more time for drawing, and I also love succulent plants.
I am camera shy so these are the only pictures of me anywhere and that I even possess, lol. I am tempted to try drawing a pic of you too as a return now xp there is one of me holding a rescue crocodile that is kinda silly as well, somewhere, I'll try to find it-might be more interesting to draw for you, if you do decide to!

Hmm, facts eh? *ponders* I used to want to be a long-distance truck driver, but I never learned to drive, so it never happened. I just liked the idea of being alone with my thoughts for hours, travelling the globe, and drinking tea in service stations at 2am. It could still happen, I suppose! And I believe in aliens. In fact, I used to think I was one. I miss my cat, khan; she lives with my brother now, because I can't have pets where I rent. She was never a cuddly cat, (being a feral half-siamese, she was never going to be a lap cat) but then again I'm not a cuddly person, so we were perfect for each other. We had a quiet understanding, and would've been very happy together on the boat. Kingfishers are my favourite bird, and I'm pretty awesome at giving tablets to cats.
Random facts are random.
I may steal your idea though... maybe I'll draw the 3WFF gang. Ooh, I might try drawing at work during lunch... I never join in the conversations any more - everyone talks about football, babies, and meat. That's it. It makes me want to shoot myself in the head, or possibly everyone else in the head.

You may remember me as I've been a collector of your art and have enjoyed watching your evolving style over the years.
